Childhood

Charles Peete Rose Jr. Born on January 5, 1942 in Henderson, North Carolina. He is the only son of the senior Charles Pete Rose and Margaret Frazier. His parents are tobacco farmers and they have a country shop. As a child, Charlie often helps in the store. He went to Henderson High School, where he became a local basketball star.

Campus

Charlie registered at Duke University, with the intention to go to Pre-MED medicine and study. However, he got an internship at the Northern Carolina Democrat B. Senator B. Everett Jordan and that experience made him interested in politics. He graduated from Duke with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1964. He continued his education at Duke University School of Law and accepted a Juris doctor in 1968. Charlie was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order while in Duke. He also met his wife Mary King there and married him in 1968.

Career

After graduating from college, Rose got a job at Bankers Trust but often escaped for TV stations, including BBC, where his wife worked. He got a job as a weekend reporter for WPIX-TV in 1972. Two years later, he was employed as an implementing editor for the International Report of the PBS Bill Moyers series. He also works as an anchor of Nightwatch CBS News. In 1991, he got his own event, the title of Charlie Ross, at PBS. He interviewed a number of prominent guests, including Barack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton, Martin Scorsese, Robin Williams, Jon Stewart, Sofia Coppola, and many others. He is also a correspondent for 60 minutes, as well as an anchor CBS this morning.

Allegations of sexual harassment

In 2017, eight women who worked with Rose accused him of trying to make them naked in front of him, groped them and made a passionate phone call to them. The Washington Post reported the story and the alleged incident took place from the 1990s to 2011. Both PBS and Bloomberg LP immediately suspended the event and ended his contract. Rose issued an apology, saying: I really apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am very embarrassed. I have behaved insensitive, and I accepted the responsibility for it, even though I did not believe that all these accuses were accurate. I always feel that I am pursuing feelings together, even though I now realize that I am wrong “
